Northern Lights Bowling Extravaganza

August 12, 2022, was the Northern Lights Bowling Extravaganza. Many thanks to Hilda Voth for successfully submitting the application for the grant that allowed the lighting upgrades to get underway this summer. The Mayfair lights were improved and changed to efficient LED lights. The new lights let members play into the evening during those shoulder seasons when the sun isn’t up as late as some bowlers like to be!!

The August 12, 2022, event was full of fun with bowls, burgers and bands. Around 150 people attended the event, many of whom were new to bowling. Three bands played and filled the summer air with fantastic music – Carly Perkins, Bandoliers, and Five Guys Named Dave.

The night wouldn’t have been a success without the NLB committee for pulling together a brilliant event. Many thanks go to Bruce MacDonald, Ron Kaye, Lorraine, and Ivan Layton. Events like this happen because of the great volunteers and a shout-out to those who helped before, during and after the event.

  • Gloria Bethelot – thank you for donating the chilli and sauerkraut
  • Arlene and Joe Chermishnook – many thanks for working the gate, assiting with coaching new players and taking photos
  • Shawna Pickrell – great job organising the teams to make a successful evening of bowling
  • Hall Griffiths – excellent job assisting with coaching new players

New Zealand Five 2022

Another great New Zealand Five. It was a record year for enrollment with eight teams! The last time we had a full slate of teams was 11 years ago.

It was a perfect day, and all the bowlers played exceptionally well. We had teams from North Battleford, Moose Jaw, our neighbours Nutana Lawn Bowling Club, and all the way from North Vancouver, BC.

Congratulations to all the teams! Visit our gallery to see pictures of the event.
